Shop details, currencies and payment methods

These settings are done once, at the start, and rarely touched again. They decide what is printed on your invoices and how the shop counts its money.

Everything is in the menu Settings › Shop info, reserved for accounts with the Shop settings and subscription right.

Shop details

This information appears on printed invoices and receipts.

Currencies

Main currency

This is the currency in which the shop counts everything: prices, sales, cash, reports. First choose the shop's country, then the currency.

The main currency is locked from the first sale. Changing currency afterwards would make all past amounts inconsistent. Choose it before selling.

Secondary currency

Optional. It is useful in towns where two currencies circulate, for example the franc and the dollar. Once chosen:

Day's rate

The rate says how many units of the secondary currency equal one unit of the main currency. Update it every time it changes. Without a rate, equivalents are not shown. A payment already recorded keeps the rate of the moment it was made.

Payment methods

Cash is always accepted. Tick in addition what your shop accepts: your country's Mobile Money services, card, bank transfer. Add another method (e.g. Equity account, Cheque…) creates a method of your own.

Each method ticked:

A method cannot be removed while it contains money: first transfer its balance to another method. See Money transfer between methods.

Purchase price rule on receipt

When a purchase order is delivered at a price different from the old one, four rules are possible: replace straight away, replace when the old stock is sold, take the average, or change nothing. This setting fixes the rule offered by default; it can still be changed on each order. The details are in Suppliers and purchase orders.
